Welcome to the Roe household blog. We're attempting to post 365 days of pictures in a Roe. Cork and I have been married since 2002 and welcomed identical daughters in August of 2009 after a struggle with infertility. Our girls were definitely worth the wait and I say they were destined to be here because they were conceived on my birthday, due on my sister's birthday and born on my grandma's birthday. What are the chances of that! We welcomed our third daughter in June of 2012. We all fell in love with her right away. She has two amazing older sisters who love to watch over her.

Window Climbing

Eiley refused to eat her breakfast this morning. I knew she was hungry and that she would like what I made, so I gave her the wooden spoon I'd used to cook her cereal. She happily dug in and finished a couple bowls of cream of wheat, pears, & almond milk with a little dab of butter. Yes, butter. My mom always served cream of wheat with butter. It's so good that way.

The kids learned how to climb into our front bay window today. They could have done it ages ago if they'd tried, but I was not encouraging them to play behind the couch. The diaper pail and clean diaper hamper blocked their way from one end and toys were by the other side. They got back there this morning and Arya scrambled up as fast as she could. Eiley wanted me to put her up there, but I wouldn't. She climbed up when she figured out I wasn't going to assist her.

21 Months

The girls are 21 months today. I saw 4 month old twins at the museum yesterday and a friend asked if it brought back memories. I half jokingly told her it brought back nightmares. Newborn twins are not easy, especially colicky twins. All the sleepless nights and long days are worth it when I see the two of the interact now. They are so goofy together. Arya loves to ask for food and when I try to give it to her, she says "I-E" because she actually was asking for it for Eiley. Eiley does the same thing. For example, Eiley loves yogurt, but Arya won't touch it. Arya loves applesauce, but Eiley rarely eats it. They both ask for the thing they don't want and I know they don't want it.

The Chaos that Is

We had an awesome day today. It was supposed to be stormy, so we made plans to go to the children's museum downtown. It was so nice that we met at a friends condo and walked to the museum. We spent a few hours there between the exhibits and the toddler class. Then, we walked to the downtown market and had lunch and then were off to our friends house for a short time before leaving. By the time we got home, we'd been gone for 5 hours and I was sure the girls would crash hard. They were up about 60 minutes later. Arya was in a great mood when she got up, but Eiley was not.

I bathed the girls last night and Arya peed on the floor before I could get her into the tub. That made me think about how they used to urinate every time we took their diaper off. In the middle of the night we'd always miss it and not realize that their sleeping gown was wet until we picked them up. Of course since I thought about it, Arya did it today. I took her diaper off after her nap and she peed on the changing table. I saw it before she got it on her clothes. I assumed she was done when she stopped and put her on the floor. Her diaper was not on yet, but I didn't want her laying on the changing table. I grabbed an insert for her diaper and when I looked back, I found her watching herself pee. She starting laughing and was so proud of herself. Eiley was screaming during all of this since she wanted to be picked up. I feel like it's always chaotic around here, but at least it stays entertaining.

Self Chalk Drawings

I saw Arya laying on the patio today, wiggling around, and couldn't figure out what she was doing at first. Then I cracked up. She had a piece of chalk in her hand and was trying to trace around herself.

Chalk Drawings

The girls were high energy all day, only sleeping for 40 or 50 minutes. We spent most of our afternoon outside watering plants, drawing with sidewalk chalk and doing random things to stay entertained.

I traced each kid and at first thought it turned out really cute. Then I had to laugh because it looks a little like the chalk drawings you see on tv and in movies that depict where a dead body was found.

How cute is this?

When Lipstick Attacks

We're on our own again this week. I'm sure this week will be better than the last time I was on my own, even with Eiley cutting at least 3 of her 4 canine teeth.

I got a good shot today that shows Arya's eye color. I think it's fun to compare their eyes to mine. They aren't exact, but both girls have eyes pretty close to my color. I think mine were a little bluer at their age, so their eyes may still darken up a be a bit more like Cork's by the time they are older.

I let the girls put lipstick on me today. It was very entertaining for all of us.

Mother's Day

We had a good mother's day. I wanted to get a really cute pic of the kids and me together. Of course that did not happen. I did not take one picture today. That's the first time in almost a year and a half that I didn't take a picture or a video. I figured out the other day how to upload photos from my phone to my computer. This is a photo I took a few months ago. I think it's so cute because they were both crying in the car and stopped. I turned back to see why they'd stopped and found them holding hands. It melts my heart when I see them doing stuff like these. These two are the best buddies.

Cork took Eiley to the store today and left Arya at home with me. Eiley called out Arya's name the entire time they were at the store and Arya cried for 5 minutes when they left. She never cries like that when Cork or I leave.
